Love It + List It: Social Media

Do you remember life before social media? What did we do with all that time we now spend doom scrolling – lol! For this month’s Love It + List It challenge, we’re going to embrace our social media addiction and share our favorite accounts. What are your go-to platforms, and which accounts regularly pop up in your feed? Julie and Lori Ann, our two Guest Creative Team members, joined me in exploring this topic. Here’s where it took us.

Julie’s (Julie DeGuia) page details how she and her daughter had some fun with an AI filter on Snapchat. I love how she drew the colors of her page from the photos and how she filled the wooden triangles with patterned paper. The placement of those triangles cleverly directs the viewer’s eye to her pictures. And Julie, I’m all for anything that minimizes my wrinkles!

On her page, Lori Ann (lmaggs) highlights her eclectic mix of Instagram favorites. Her use of the burst brush and stitching is absolutely brilliant to draw attention to her screen grabs. The banner on the left side is the perfect home for her main shot of our own Katie demonstrating the use of her new stamp and die set. Love the clean look of this page!

After analyzing the Instagram accounts at the top of my list, I’ve decided they fall into three categories: art, cats, and politics – also pretty eclectic. I love how Katie’s cool spiral pages make my designs take on a tactile quality that’s reminiscent of my paper scrapping days. It’s like an open notebook on my desktop.
