I wanted to document why we love the Grampians so much. It's a mountain range starting north of us and we both love it so much. There will be a companion page of our climb as well, but for now you get the view from the top.
Please join us in this month's Story Scrapbook Challenge, where we'd love to read all about what you love. Details on the BLOG HERE :

Journalling:
One place in the world that both Mike and I love with all our hearts is the Grampians. Gariwerd is its Aboriginal name and it’s the centre of creation stories for many Aboriginal communities in southern Australia. It starts merely an hour to the north of us just past Dunkeld and we love to hike in the area. My favourite mountain peak is Mount Abrupt, and I’m sure Major Mitchell must have named it as such because of the abrupt nature the imposing rock face rises straight up 825 metres. It’s a steep climb, the track winds its way through wooded areas and over rock banks following an escarpment ring to the top. The prize for the climb is the most amazing magical view at the peak along the Serra Ranges. You can see forever, the ranges in the distance changing from
grey-green to every shade of grey-blue. Even on a beautiful day the peak is windy and can be cold, but each time I’ve climbed it was equally amazing. On this occasion it was Mike’s first climb and he loved it as much as me. The smell of the bush, nature at its finest, and the exultant feeling of making the top. In a heartbeat we would move to Halls Gap if given half the chance. We love the mountains, we love this area, and to live right in the middle of it all would be a dream. Yes there has been fires, floods and landslides, but with pleasure there must be pain, it’s the price you may need to pay to be at the foothills of heaven.
