Story Scrapbook Challenge : Time to say goodbye

How do you feel when it’s time to say goodbye?  We say goodbye to so many things throughout our lives and it’s always hard, some way more hard than others.  This month I thought it would be a good challenge to reflect on a goodbye.

Have you ever left a job – either voluntary or otherwise – how did that feel?  Have you moved on to a new town and left the old one behind, the familiarity, the lovely neighbours?  Finishing school and all of a sudden you’re in the big wide world making your way, no longer a big fish in the school sea.

I know I have found it hard saying goodbyes to cars, they kind of become part of us right?  All the good times had together.  That goodbye can be rough, until you move onto the next shiny new thing.

Have you had friendship goodbyes, maybe unspoken, I read once that friendships can be for a season or a lifetime.  How have you said goodbye to your season friends?  And for that matter the breakup of a relationship, a marriage, a long term partner, now we’re getting to the big topics.

The sad part about pets is that don’t live nearly long enough and many of us will have a lot of goodbyes to our beloved animals, would you like to share?

And for that matter the final goodbye when a loved one passes, if you want to tell that story please do, you don’t even have to post it if it’s too raw.

Whilst I’m not intending to go anywhere, I hope you might like to join me in this month’s challenge where it’s time to say goodbye.

The creative team have jumped on board and we’ve all come at this topic from different angles:

There’s going to be quite a few mums nodding along out there about culling the children’s clothes.  I bet there are a lot of memory boxes with baby clothes in them still.  I really love Sarah’s journalling here, she really goes into the sentimentality of it.  Fabulous page.

Erin, oh Erin, such a gorgeous photograph to treasure always.  Her journalling has made me cry as I too have had the same questions for my dad.   It’s just not fair.  But what a beautiful memory and amazing tribute to what Erin’s dad meant to her.  Our sincerest thoughts are with you Erin.

And well for my page I went very light hearted about saying goodbye to my first car, what a beauty she was, or maybe not!  Which makes me wonder how many of the younger crowd reading this blog post will even know who Kit (or I should say Kitt) the Wonder Car was?  Hmmm.
