Saturday Scraplift: Monochromatic Blends
Happy Saturday! Welcome back to the Saturday Scraplift. I have a great page to inspire you this week. Sharon (Shannamay) posted this darling page of her daughter Claire and I just loved the monochromatic layered blendy vibe of it.
When I asked for volunteers, I was thrilled to not only get great pages, but also some great verbiage for the blog. So here’s how Sharon’s page was described by Audrey:
“I find that background so intriguing (the brushwork of the more saturated same paper over the lighter version!), the way the sentiments are “taped” to the frame with shadowing, and the way she filled in the new stamps I just want to copy it all!”
And then, Sharon was kind enough to explain a bit of her process, if you want to know how she did the background blends and flowers:
“In case you’re still wondering, the background is layered. The pink ‘washed’ paper from the ARToptions Spice Paper Pack 02 is at the bottom with the floral paper from the Baby Blush Addon Paper Pack on top with reduced opacity. The watery mask gets plopped on top and the blend mode changed to ‘overlay’. With the floral stamp, I just made a sticker layer (I use the magic wand, click on the outside of the brush, inverse and then make into a new layer, enlarge by 10 pixels and apply a shadow. Then I just clipped the same washed pink paper from the background to it) Chose a colour from my other elements and clipped that to the brush – done.”
So, there’s the scoop directly from the source! Now, onto the spinoffs of the originals.
Up first is Julie Deguia with this great vacation selfie. She kept true to the original layout but changed up the color scheme.
