Saturday Scraplift: How to Ground Your Photos

It’s Linda here with some design inspiration for you. I’ve shared before that scrapbooking opened up a whole new world of design to me and helped me learn techniques to up my game. I was drawn to Cori’s page by the strong design elements: she grounded the photos of her boys and their dog with vertical strips of ribbon, a few carefully placed elements, and a bit of brush work. It’s a winning combination that several of my fellow Creative Team members (Liz T, Valerie, and Maureen) and I were eager to lift. Here’s where it took us.

Cori’s page:

Liz T (lizziet5) scrapped some photos of one of her adorable grandsons and his dad. I love the bits of greenery she used behind the photos with the vertical strips and brush work. She created a visual triangle of circular elements and extended the pop of green with a heart and a bow. Such a well-designed page!

Valerie (nana_vg) used a winning pink and purple color combination to highlight those darling girls exploring all things princess. I love the pretty purple snowflakes to underscore the early Christmas celebration with her family. Who doesn’t enjoy a little glam during the holidays?

I had to giggle at Maureen’s (maureenreynolds) advice on how to decorate your Christmas tree: go on retreat and let your husband and granddaughter do it. I need to try that. She chose wonderfully festive paper and accents to unite her design, and I really like how she used the vertical strip and cluster to anchor her photos.

It seems we all were drawn to photos of our grandchildren, and my beautiful granddaughter makes an appearance on my page. She accompanied us to a Christmas brunch last year, and I’m eagerly awaiting her return from college this weekend. I adhered very closely to Cori’s excellent design for my page – why tamper with perfection?
