Saturday Scraplift: Breaking Grids and Bold Titles

Happy Saturday! I hope you are all enjoying your weekend. I think I have a fun page for lifting this week. Julie (MaggieMae) gets the best photos from friends to use in her pages. These Wyoming winter photos are no exception. I just love how she used a soft palette, cut out her bold title and also broke the grid with her photos and title work. I love a good grid but what I love even more is breaking it! I think it adds a bit of subtle whimsy to a page. Her shadowing also really works to add pop to her design.

Fran (Frani_54) is up first this week with her bold winter page. The photo cluster breaks her background grid perfectly and she also used monochromatic brushwork on the blue paper to give added interest. The shadowed title really pops off the page as well.

Carol wanted to play along this week as well and I just love the story she told! She definitely has a gift for telling stories. 🙂 She divided her page into thirds much like Julie did, but added great notebook edge details and her title breaks the page grid perfectly. The small hearts are such a great bit of color as well. Let’s hear it for Team Gilmour!

My page is from a snapchat photo my son sent this afternoon. He’s the Best Man today at his high school friend’s wedding and as soon as he sent the photo, I knew it was perfect for this inspiration. I split the page in thirds, used fun splatters, broke the grid and even broke up the middle paper block. I also used more shadowing than I normally do because I liked Julie’s look so much.
