iTunes Challenge: July

Hi everyone! It’s Trace (tracermajig) here with the July iTunes Cover Challenge!

This album cover instantly grabbed my attention when I first saw it because I loved the colours. There is definitely a lot going on with it, though! I think there are a number of ways you could take this one and here are a few ideas that spring to mind.

  • You could use the colour as your inspiration only and apply it to any design.
  • Rather than use all of the different elements on a page you could concentrate on one. For example you could use the paper strips as your design base either on an angle, vertical or horizontal. Or concentrate only on a clustered star background.
  • Any shape would work with this kind of design. I think pastel rainbow heart clusters would be adorable! Or how about an explosion of flowers or butterflies?
  • You could lift the horizontal paper strips and tuck photos into the strips.
  • Or how about a split page design concentrating on opposites? For example, day and night or summer and winter?

Katie has put together a freebie to help get you started. It’s not necessary to use it for the challenge though.

I love how our team each took this challenge in a different direction and created entirely different pages!

I love this bright, happy and colourful page that Lori Ann (lmaggs) has created. The paper strips in the corners really help to frame that cute photo and the cloud cluster helps to ground it. Isn’t it an adorable page?

Lori Ann used these supplies on her page: Cloudy Skies Brushes and Stamps 01, Darcy Gardens Solids Paper Pack, Layer Works 1352, Notebook Paper Pack 06, Stapled Photos Layered Templates + PNGs 03Twisted Dots Stamp Pack 03

Karen (grandmak) created a really unique design inspired by the paper strips. I just love how she used the strips and blending to mimic the shadows in her photo. It’s so cool and very eye catching!

Karen used these products on her page: Amaze Me Brushes and Stamps, Assorted Messy Stitches 07 Super Pack, Back to School Element PackBlythe Paper PackCanvas Color Mix Paper Pack 10, Cloudy Skies Brushes and Stamps 01, Thin Classic Photo Frames Curled and Flat 02 Torn Templates 03Vintage Storybook Brushes and Stamps 02

Monica (mosbaskets) also used the paper strips to ground her design. I love how the photo looks tucked into the strips and the little tropical cluster is the perfect touch! It feels as though you are looking through a window at that beautiful view.

Monica created her page using these products: Hand Scripted Stamp Pack 33Readymade Layers: Beach Clusters 16Spill Frame Layers 15Vintage Seas Paper Pack 01Vintage Seas Solids Paper Pack

As I said, I (tracermajig) was immediately drawn to the colours in this album cover. I also loved the stars and clouds and I was inspired to scrap sleeping baby photos. I decided to challenge myself further and lift all of the different elements in the album cover. I just love how this page came out!
