Journaling: I think because we have been together for so long and that we call each other hubby and wife that everyone forgot that we have never made it official! HA! The time has come to change all of that!
We never actually planned to get married first. We knew we were it for each other and with the way life presented opportunities to us it made more sense to buy the house and have the kids first. I’m so glad we did that because with the current housing boom and shortage around here it is near impossible to buy or rent property! We have always talked about getting married and planning a wedding but life kept throwing us curve balls. 2021 tested our little family like no other year has but we came out the other side stronger than ever. When Dylan asked me what I wanted for Christmas, I told him I’d like some new gold hoop earrings. Our regular jeweller was running a Christmas competition at the time and he was eligible to pick a bon bon from the store Christmas tree. Lo and behold, inside was a $1000 voucher for ‘diamond dollars’ and Dylan knew that was his sign to make everything official! He gave me the voucher on Christmas morning and we went together on the 27th to pick the ring! The kids are so excited and can’t understand why we can’t get married tomorrow and the rest of our families were over the moon! At this stage we are planning on a 2023 date to see what happens with covid but I do know I want to plan something small and relaxed that is focused entirely on family.
