Amongst all the cr@p that 2020 has delivered so unceremoniously, there are still some ever so beautiful moments to be immensely thankful for. I may not be there to witness them as they happen, nor directly in the moment with my own eyes, but when such raw and tender images are shared with me, despite the intense longing, my heart just bursts with so much love, pride and hope. They have, without a doubt, kept me going, kept me putting one foot in front of the other, kept me dreaming of the day I can feel this little one in my arms, on my lap or even just holding my hand, depending on how big he will be when that day eventually dawns. The yearning is intense, it can be overwhelming and all consuming but it’s all part of our story and we have to accept it, no matter how hard it is. And when “our day” finally arrives, I will be the happiest and most content Ouma alive. And I will be at peace.
