My brother's question didn't bother me; it made me think about why I decorate for Christmas and I thought I would put it down on a page! Katie has lots of pretty things coming this week!

This was Jim’s question to me when I told him I’d been spending most of my time putting up Christmas decorations. I smiled inwardly, grateful that my little brother is comfortable enough with me to speak what is on his mind. It’s a fair question, given that after Mark’s health scare, his doctor advised against indoor visiting with others until the Covid scare gets better. It’s true that this has been hard to take during the holiday season, but I wasn’t really concerned about who would see our home this year. It was fun to see how my old decorations fit in the new house, and now that it’s done, I enjoy relaxing in the cozy atmosphere, reading a book and drinking a cup of tea. Mark bragged on how pretty the house looks and said that all the trimmings make it still seem like Christmas despite our quarantine. I wouldn’t have it any other way!

Exactly. You will. I don't do a whole lot of decorating besides the tree but I do so enjoy just looking at the tree with the lights. So pretty. Even my humbug husband now loves having the tree up.

Amy, it must be so exciting to decorate your pretty new house. I think as we are home more this year all by ourselves that it is even more important to make our homes look and feel like Christmas. I need all the cheer I can get! Love the glimpse into your decorated cozy corner.

When I started to feel overwhelmed with Christmas coming so fast, I was beginning to think the same as your brother, but realized that yes, we all need some joy in our lives this year, and am glad I decided to decorate as well.

I decided some time ago - when it appeared that we wouldn't always be having Christmas at home or with family - that the decorating for Christmas was for the two of us and I would continue to make it special for just us. This year Tricia and crew will be with us for Christmas dinner but last year we didn't have any Christmas company and that was just fine.
