Lots of dead branches and a split that makes it unsafe although overall it is healthy. But it was going to cost as much or more to keep it trimming back all the dead and cabling the split in two places (and maintain it) than to take it down. Figuring we will eventually have to take it down and going to do it while it is still manageable. It is a huge tree. Not exactly sure of the height but at least 80 ft. maybe higher. The circumference is 10 ft and too big for Bill and I to split the wood ourselves so we have to hire professionals with a professional grade splitter to do it for us too.
