Laundry Love--Story Scrapbook Challenge

If you had told me I would spend my precious reading time on a book about laundry, much less that I would no longer dread this chore after reading it, I wouldn't have believed you! I highly recommend this book! Thanks Carol for a fun challenge.

Journaling: I do all the laundry on Monday. First, I walk through the house sorting everything I want to wash that day. I’m adding items that haven’t been laundered in a long time (or ever!), such as the lining of my all-weather coat.

I sort into 4 piles: blacks, whites, warm colors, and dark colors. Everything from lingerie to dog bed covers goes into the appropriate pile.

I pretreat stains, but only just before each wash load. I put delicate items in laundry bags, pinning them in very tightly.

I wash everything in warm water.

I use the speed wash cycle for every wash, with the spin setting on extra high. The load is washed much more quickly than it used to be, and my clothes are drier right out of the wash which speeds up drying time as well.

I line dry my knits and hang my wovens. Everything else is dried in the dryer.

I fold the laundry as it dries. Some of the hanging stuff takes a long time, so I’m refining the order of my loads to try to get everything dry in the least possible time.

I even clean the laundry room as I work! The whole process is less tedious and more rewarding!
