This is my entry for January's Scraplift Chain. I had the honor of scraplifting Okate, whose gallery is filled with so many gorgeous and sophisticated layouts that it was really hard for me to choose one of them.

I was drawn to this page:

I really debated about whether this should be the page I attempted to lift, because I knew going into it that I was not going to be able to fully do it justice. For starters, Kate's page has that giant, dramatic photo of a truly impressive vessel as the subject. Beyond that, her skill level with blending and adding interesting page elements is far beyond mine.

I do have a similar photo (albeit with a much less impressive boat as the subject), but the problem is that that particular photo is wayyyyyy too small to even consider using for this. It's only a couple of inches wide. :( So I used a different photo I had taken at twilight, in the same marina, with my other camera. This photo is larger but otherwise honestly just not that great.

Because of that, and also because I wanted to make this page 6"x8" so it can fit in the European Travel album I have already started, I knew going in that my layout could not possibly end up being as amazing as Kate's. I almost didn't even attempt it.

But then I decided to go for it anyway. I have the pictures I have. Scrapping them beats not scrapping them, even though they are not perfect.

So this is what I ended up with.

I LOVE how Kate's layout has so many interesting nautical detail photos inset into the page. I have about a zillion similar pictures that were taken before we set sail, but we didn't take any quite like those in Agia Galini. I did, however, take a bunch of food photos in Agia Galini.

Have you ever tried to grocery shop without a car? That pretty much sums up our life experience for the five+ years we were out cruising. So a large portion of the time we spent in Crete was dedicated just to resupplying. Here you can see a few of the things we bought in the local stores there.

Thanks so much for taking a look at my project. I appreciate your interest!
