The evening before my son's wedding, we gathered for a family picnic at a local park. It was so much fun! And this new Across the Pages template was perfect for capturing some of the good times (might have to create a few more pages from this fun event!). I especially love the shaped journaling - adds such a great touch!
Journaling
I love the tradition we now have (is it a tradition when it’s happened twice?) of a pre-wedding picnic where family from out of town gets together with the local clan and we all hang out, have a buffet dinner, and get to know each other a bit. At the wedding, it turns out there’s a lot going on and it’s a little hard to just relax and enjoy visiting and getting to know each other. But a picnic is the perfect way to connect and visit in a more casual setting.
For Tynor and Mallory’s wedding, her family came all the way from North Carolina (and Michigan!). I’m so glad they all came and that we got to spend time together! Since Tynor & I wanted to get in a little more practice for our mother/son dance, I joined the bride & groom & families for dinner twice earlier in the week. So I was lucky enough to have some extra visiting time, first with Mallory’s mom and her partner, Barbara and Rick, and then a few days later, with her dad, Kevin, his wife, Marty, and Mallory’s half brothers, Christopher and Colin (16 & 14). Pop Pop, Mallory’s grandfather (also known as Ed), who is 90 years old, came as well. It was so wonderful that he could make the trip! We had lots of time to visit, since we had a group dance lesson for the father/daughter and mother/son dances right after lunch, and then I stayed afterwards through dinner.
On the day of the picnic, Niall drove over from Idaho, and then he and I drove up to Bellingham to pick up Grandma Shannon (so great that she could come down for the wedding too!). After dropping her off at Pat’s, he and I came to the picnic, which was at Blyth Park in Bothell (our old stomping grounds!). Busy day!
At the picnic, we enjoyed a delicious dinner from Whole Foods, and then played games that included a giant Connect Four, as well as ladder golf, corn hole, and bocce ball. Niall & Tynor were on fire with the bocce ball. What a team! I learned that I need a lot more practice at corn vhole.
