Then and Now: School Days

Hi there. Julie here with another Then and Now Challenge. This month we are focusing on anything to do with school. It could be a first day/last day picture, within the same school year or over a longer period of time. It could be a vintage photo of a relative at school, and then a current photo showing how things have changed over the years. Maybe a child went to a parent’s alma matter and there are pictures on the campus in the same spot or something similar. Could be school sports or clubs, or maybe you are a teacher and have pictures of you as a student and now on the flip side at the front of the classroom! Lots of possibilities. Katie has a fun freebie for you to download. I hope this gives you some inspiration to complete your page, but you don’t have to use them.

First up is Shannon. She made a page showing her son from kindergarten to high school graduation. I love the bright primary colors she used and all the fun school-themed elements she placed around the two photos. She used a simple caption and dates on each photo to tell the story.

In addition to the freebie from Basic Tags 04, she used the following product: Curated Team Favorites School Scrapbook Kit, and Stitched Frame Clusters 02.

Next up is one of our Guest Creative Team Members, Penny. She created a beautiful page of both her kids from their early school days to each of their graduations. What a great idea! I have a similar photo of the younger sibling wanting to tag along on the first day! Penny does such a great job of finding the perfect template to fit her photos, and this page is no exception. Two smaller photos for the pictures of the kids when they were younger, and two bigger photos for the main event: graduation!

Penny used the following product: Layer Works 2028, School Rules Layered Template (title only), and the Color Swatch Teal Add-on Paper Pack.

And here is my page. I have a tradition of taking a photo of each kid by our front door on the first day of school. I love the comparison here showing how much my daughter has grown, and how much our doormat has faded! We finally got a new one last fall… doormat that is, not a new daughter. LOL! I pulled my colors from her clothing and kept the rest neutral. For my title, I used “SCHOOL” from the freebie word art and then pieced together “DAYS” from other words that come with this set of sentiments.
