Template Mashup: Start with a Wreath

Hello! My name is Merrilee (or Merr, for short).  I go by the user name of digigrandma at Katie Pertiet Designs. I’m here with ideas for the 1st Template Mashup for the month of August. I hope you’ll be inspired to join in on this challenge after you see the templates I chose and the example pages provided. After all, the page you create counts towards earning a discount in the KPD store and I guarantee you’ll find it relaxing to play along as you mix and match parts of the templates. If you do a search in the KPD store using the words template and wreath you’ll find several pages of templates that use the wreath motif as the basis of the design. A pretty wreath is a popular design element, not only for the holiday season, but, throughout the year.

Creative Team members, Lynnie and Valerie, plus our Guest Creative Team member, Monica, joined me in working with these templates to create examples for you. I hope our examples tempt you to create your own version  of the wreath motif for this challenge. The rules are simple: just make sure you use parts of both templates in your new design. Add a background paper and you’re done. (It’s OK to use additional designs from KPD if you wish>)

Please post your page in the Template Mashup Gallery and for Challenge Rewards points also post in the August Participation Thread in the Forum.

My first example for you was created by Lynn (aka grandma lynnie). Her simplified circular wreath of journal text leaves ample white space to make sure the focus is on the precious photos of her little great granddaughter with her proud parents.

Next, I can always count on a wonderful Mashup example from Valerie (aka nana_vg). Notice the flowers and butterfly match the colors in her photos perfectly. I love how she tucked the journal text down in the corner. She used Curated Team Favorites Lakeside Scrapbook Kit and Brush Stroke Stamps 01 to complete her page.

Monica (aka mosbaskets) also likes the challenge of mashing templates and I’m grateful for her example page.  She created a very pretty wreath and the perfectly placed photos tell the story of her husband’s important new role as a discussion leader for their church.

And, for the final example, this is the page I created. I had a most enjoyable time arranging the parts of my wreath and decided to showcase just one photo from our garden. My  white textured background paper is from Christmas Lodge Solids Paper Pack.

Thanks so much for taking a peek at our examples.

I hope the month of August includes many hours of creativity designing scrapbook pages for your memories.
