Template Mashup: Our Stories

Hi! It’s Merrilee (aka digigrandma) here with the first Template Mashup Challenge for September. How did it already get to be September? Well, it is here and I hope you are ready to begin new scrapbook pages this month. As we all know, the photos on our scrapbook pages tell our stories. A little journaling added can help fill in the background information. The Template Mashup Challenge is all about making your own creative page to tell a story and it is super fun to do! Take a look at the templates I chose. How do they inspire you? Which parts of each template could you use with your photos? Create your page and share it with us in the KPD gallery and also post in the Challenge Participation Thread for September so it counts towards a discount in the store.

The Creative Team provided examples of mashing these templates I am please to share with you.

First up is Valerie (aka nana_vg) with a very timely back to school story told on her page. It’s a story of change when the traditional back to school photo is different after the older sister goes off to college. Valerie made sure her design had room for a journal text to go with the photos. I love the double stitched framing and the glorious color blue that dominates her page. I’m sure you’ve noticed if you browse in our Gallery that Stacia is a wonderful story teller. What could be more romantic than a story about a honeymoon in Hawaii? Stacia arranged room for three photos plus a generous journal text. Credits: Text Textures paper Pack 02

Guest Creative Team member, Candy (aka cnewby), created an eye catching page with a dramatic dark blue background and white stitching around her journal text. And, oh, what a sweet story about a little boy’s fascination with watching trains. Her text explains the history behind the darling photo. And, I’d also like to add that Candy always proves that when you mash two templates you can come up with a completely different look that matches your own creative style.

I will finish with my own example of mashing these templates. The photo books I give my grandsons on their birthdays are full of photos that tell stories about their lives for that year. I get so much enjoyment from creating the pages and it is also heart warming when I see them take time to look at each and every page. Credits: Duncan Solids Paper Pack

I hope you enjoy studying the different parts of these templates that you could use to create your own mashup. As you can see, no two of our examples look the same. Oh, and, the best news is that these very beautiful templates are included in the weekly Thrifty Thursday sale!
