Template Mashup: Layers and Stars

This is Merrilee (aka digigrandma) back with another Template Mashup Challenge. This is the Challenge where you choose parts of two templates to make a new design of your own. It’s so much fun because all the elements you need are usually found in the two templates. No hunting through your digital stash for ideas. This saves you time and it opens up new ideas for design elements you may not have thought to use in making a scrapbook page. Usually you’ll need to add a background paper and it is perfectly OK if you want to draw on any of your other KPD supplies to create your page if you wish. I usually try to stick to what’s included in the templates, especially when they include tons of embellishments like the ones I chose for this Mashup. I got lots of help from the Creative Team who volunteered to make example pages.

Here are the Templates for this Mashup Challenge. (Remember, the templates are included in the weekly sale!)

Now, that you’ve seen the templates, let’s take a look at the unique responses from the Creative Team!

First, Mirabel (aka mrivas) created a page with a lovely birthday photo of herself. She cleverly filled the stars and the background with the green checked paper from one of the templates, so, she didn’t need to use any designs other than what is included in the templates.

Candy (aka cnewby) featured those same stars but the look is completely different because of her background paper choice. She used Lightly Linens Paper Pack 05 to achieve the dramatic monochromatic color look.

Now, for another completely different look the next page was created by Brenda (aka bbe). Her design isĀ  horizontal and features just one sweet photo of her granddaughter reading. She surrounded the photo with layers and elements all from the two templates. Her papers are from Vintage Artistry Sage Paper Pack.

And, look how stunning this black and white version of the Mashup is! This example is by Lori Ann (aka lmaggs). Lori used You and Me Solids paper Pack, Canvas Colors Paper Pack 21 and Brilliant Love: Dots Paper Pack to complete her design.

I loved the stars and the torn paper, too. My main background paper is from Palette Textures Paper Pack 29. The star patterned paper I used is from Puppy Power Paper Pack.

Is your head spinning with ideas? I hope so! Please post your pages in our Template Challenge Gallery and also post in the May Challenge Participation Thread in the Forum to get credit towards your Rewards Discount.

Have fun with this challenge. I am eager to see what you create.
