Saturday Scraplift: Divide and Conquer

Take it easy — I’m not mounting any sort of insurrection! I’m suggesting we divide and conquer our background as Erin (Ernie88) did in this sweet page about her newborn baby daughter. I love how the divided background puts that darling photo front and center, and the way she pulled her primary color scheme from Sophie’s little dress unifies her page. Candy and Lori, two of my fellow Creative Team sisters, joined me in lifting Erin’s page. Here’s where it took us.

Erin’s page:

I was blown away by the drama Candy (cnewby) achieved on her page with the black and bright floral background separated by the striped paper. Wow! And the black and white photo is moody and tender at the same time. She repeated two of the flower colors in her brush work framing and the botanical accent. Beautiful page!

Lori’s (lmaggs) adorable granddaughter takes center stage on her page. I really love how she was inspired by the colors of her photograph to bring her design to life. I see a visual triangle of blue shades inspired by that cotton candy and another one of the subtler pink and orange shades from the design on her granddaughter’s outfit. You know I love a visual triangle.

I scrapped my granddaughter, too, albeit she’s well beyond the toddler stage – still trying to figure out how that happened! Even though this photo was taken on Christmas Day 2019, I knew I wasn’t going to scrap it in traditional Christmas colors. I used the green from the background of the shot and added pops of black which always seem to finish off a page. And what goes better with those two colors than a dash of pink?
