Print and Paper Hybrid

Hello everyone! Kathy Black (blackkathy) here with another fun project for those who want to combine both digital and paper! I really enjoy working with paper but also love digital scrapping as well. There are bonuses with each and you can combine both to create some lovely pages. These are the supplies I used on this layout featuring my sweet grand dog, Sadie, using an 8×11 format.

I created two layouts, almost identical, using Photoshop on one to create the base page.

And then used Word to create another base page.

I wanted to show that you don’t always need a complicated program to create your base layer.

I added some elements that I had fussy cut, some hearts that I used a punch with, and sewed around the edges.

My sewing skills are better than my photography skills as I could not for the life of me, get a straight shot so it does look a little wonky here, but not in real life. This is the digital base which I had printed on presentation cardstock. I find that it does the best printing job.

This is the finished word base.

On this one, I printed out the photo separately with the elements and then placed it on top of the base layer.

For the digital supplies I used Film Strip Blends on the base layers and Vintage Makers Elements for the fussy cuts, which both are brand new and will be in the shop soon. And as you can see, nothing needs to be perfect when scrapping. Having fun while creating is the goal here. Don’t have a sewing machine? You can use a black pen or marker and run it around the outside edges. Plain scissors are needed for fussy cutting, not a cutting machine. Draw in some hearts if you don’t have punches. You can get stickered alpha sheets, too. Katie’s digital supplies are great for the fussy cuts. Beautifully created for any kind of scrapping you enjoy doing, or even card making. Adobe Bridge is a free program that will show all of your digital supplies while you are creating, and it works with Word as well. Just drag and drop into your document. Easy peasy.

I really enjoy doing hybrid scrapping and hope you will join in and give it a try if you haven’t. I would love to see your creations, so please post them in the Journaling Gallery. Please remember to use all Katie Pertiet products, either paper or digital when uploading. Make sure to post your layout also in the June Challenge Thread in the forums to receive credit towards your discount. I would also welcome any ideas that you might have for future hybrid scrapping. Happy scrapping!
