Photo Focus: Friendship

Hello friends! Audrey (adrianita) here with this month’s Photo Challenge.

February hosts Valentine’s Day – and watching my kids prepare their valentine gifts for all of their classmates and friends reminds me of the love that friendship brings into our lives. So for this month’s photo challenge, I chose this theme. Choose ONE photo that represents friendship, and make it shine with brushes, papers, elements, and perhaps a little journaling.

My recommendation is to at least use a watery brush, an ampersand, and at a patterned paper. Katie has generously provided a FREEBIE PACK you may use if you wish. The Creative Team has come up with some fantastic examples of pages that showcase friendship in their photos and complimentary designs.

Creative Team Member Valerie (nana_vg) came up with this gorgeous page of her granddaughter with her friends on New Year’s Eve. I love the how she clipped a patterned paper to a watery mask for a subtle effect – one of my favorite tricks.

Supplies Valerie used: Curated Team Favorites Sparkle Scrapbooking Kit, Seasons Finest Scrapbook Kit, Seasons Finest Add-On Paper Pack, Seasons Finest Roughed Up Photo Mats, Seasons Finest Solids Paper Pack, Hello 2023 Stamp Pack, Hello 2024 Stamp Pack, Thicker Brushed Alpha 04, Friends Word Art 03 Brushes and Stamps, Watery Photo Masks 13, Edge Overlays 08

Creative Team Member Carol (carollee) put together this fabulous page about herself and her bestie, Sonia (also on New Years eve, but a few years ago!) The great quote and fun photo tied for my favorite part of the page.

Supplies Carol used: Watery Washes 03 Brushes and Stamps, Plastic Alphabet: Navy Blue 01, Enchanted Easter Solids Paper Pack, Fat Cat Black Cat Paper Pack, Classic Frame Layers 01, Brilliant Love: Roughed Up Pocket Cards, Twisted Dots 01, Black, Creme and Red Kit, Pinned Pearls 02, Maybe Not Kit, Flair Minis 01

Guest Creative Team Member Karen (grandmak) created this simple page that showcases friends in green on the dyed-green Chicago River for St. Patricks day. Keeping the page light in embellishments helps both the large photo (clipped to a creased paper – great choice) and smaller photo shine.

Supplies Karen used (in addition to freebie pack): Arctic Whites Paper Pack 02, Spectrum | Sherbet Paper Pack, Page Fades 02, Thin Classic Photo Frames Curled and Flat 02, Seasons Finest Scrapbooking Collection, Fastener Basics 01, Shamrock Clusters

Guest Creative Team Member Yam (Yam) made this page with  lot of delightful layers, but the color palette is subtle blues and greens, which complement the photo in the center of the page of her fun friend.

Supplies Yam used: Color Swatch Ocean Paper Pack, Color Swatch Ocean Remnants, Spill Frame Layers 12, Moonlit Garden Chipboard Words,  Moonlit Garden Wildflower Ephemera, Color Swatch Teal Ephemera, Color Swatch Teal Transfers 03, Vintage Type Stamp Pack 01, White on White Paper Pack 01

For my page, I adjusted the tone in the patterned papers and elements to complement the colors in the photo of my friend Christine and I in front of the Jungle Queen Riverboat.

Supplies I used: Assorted Messy Stitches 08 Black, Sentiment Spots 16, ArtOptions Spice Sentiment Transfers 01, Fall Crush Scrapbook Kit, Autumn Bliss Solids, Arlesey Add-On Paper Pack, Black, White and Pink Kit, Messy Sprays 01, Splatters 06, Watery Spots 16, Watery Chevrons 04

I hope that creating your page brings a smile to your face as you reflect on either your own personal friendships of those of your loved ones. I can’t wait to see what you come up with!
