Love It + List It: Quotations

As a former English teacher, I definitely have a thing for words, and it extends to quotations. I love the pithy wisdom and humor contained in them and used to spotlight a different quote each week in my classroom. So this month our Love It + List It topic is quotes. Do you have a favorite quote or quotes? Do you collect quotes the way I do? Do you like quotes about a particular subject? There are so many ways to approach this challenge; and from the following examples, you can see that Amy, Kathy, Valerie, and I were inspired differently. How will you be inspired?

Amy (Amy L) designed her pretty page around quotes from books she’s read. I love her showcase of Katie’s lovely new Color Swatch Ochre kit and her creative layout. Putting something on an angle on a page just seems to invigorate the design. The large title draws the viewer in, and the quotes themselves keep the eye moving around her page.

Kathy (Blackkathy) chose to focus on a single quote from the late Maya Angelou. Her beautiful page combines a large, sepia-toned photo of the author with blended elements and the quotation itself, which is good advice for us all. It’s such a gorgeous piece that it ought to be hanging on a wall in pride of place.

Valerie (nana_vg) scrapped some of her best-loved quotes, using Kaleidoscope, one of my favorites of Katie’s recent kits. The colors are wonderful, and I especially love how she highlighted and recolored certain words within the quotes. That’s such a great technique. Her layering gives a great sense of dimension.

As I was looking through my collection of quotes, I came across a number focusing on grandparents and decided to go in that direction. Being a grandparent is a thorough delight. There’s no argument that babies and toddlers are adorable, but we’re now at the grown-up grandchildren stage; and that’s no less delightful. I highly recommend it!

I can’t wait to see where this challenge takes you, and I bet I’ll be adding to my collection of quotes when I see your pages. Remember to post your page in the Love It + List It Gallery as well as in the May 2024 Challenge Participation thread in the forum. Happy scrapping!
