Let’s Blend Challenge

Hi there, Joanne here with this month’s Let’s Blend Challenge.  I have always loved Katie’s Urban metal frames. This particular one coordinated with a beach theme page I was creating with a photo of Justin from our trip last month. To soften it up a bit, I clipped it to a mask and it gave it a more blended look. A bevel and emboss effect was added to create a bit more texture.  I then placed a watery photo mask under the frame and clipped the photo of Justin to it and resized it to fit. The photo looked a bit too blended to me, so I duplicated it, moved it to the layer above the frame, and added a black layer mask, I then painted in just the reflection on his sunglasses, so it would stand out a bit. After that I clipped a textured, beachy paper to a page blend on the layer below all of it, and added a bevel and emboss effect to it make it look really textured. Embellishments were added along with word art and that’s it!

Here are the products I used: Atlantic Solids, Page Blends 12-3, Fine Lines Border Lines 13, Watery Photo Masks 9, Urban Photo Frames 1, Golden Pretty Element Pack, (thread cluster) More to Shore Element Pack, (netting) Ready Made Clusters: Beach 1

Try this technique on other frames, as well. Some of the wood frames in the shop might be a good choice. Katie has generously provided a nice freebie package to help get the creativity going. Please post your pages in the Let’s Blend Challenge Gallery and the April Challenge Participation Thread, so you can earn shopping credits.

Looking forward to seeing your lovely work in the Gallery!
