Get Inspired Challenge – Book Covers: August

Good morning everyone,

Sharon here, with this month’s Get Inspired Book Cover Challenge. This month I have chosen this newly released Australian children’s picture book cover:

I was so taken by the cute little people, the grid and the large title.

I have done the occasional ‘whole page’ titles and every time I have loved the pages – don’t know why I don’t do it more often – it’s also a great way to use some of the fantastic alphabets we have in store.

The lemony yellow and pinkish-red colour scheme is a bit gorgeous and might take your fancy?

The grid – don’t we all love a good grid? And don’t forget there are lots of different ways to make a grid – coin holders, slide frames, sectioned window frames, printers trays. A quick search for ‘grid’ in the store will bring up lots of ideas to play with.

The little people and the tiny flowers are so cute. The flowers reminded me of these Drawn Blossoms

and these Drawn Branches

You could go with the idea/theme of a month of happenings, using a calendar grid as the background to a special event.

You could create an “on any day” page.

You could document special birthdays and or events.

Several creative team members jumped at the chance to use a gridded design.

Linda (earlofoxford), has created a loved gridded background of pretty papers to record the events of the summer:

Shannon (shannonroller), has also gone with a photo grid to document a special day – I love all the photos and the tiny additions like the camera charm and the “Me” flair:

Beth has celebrated her new graduate with a fantastic page featuring Pencil Line Journalers. Again, I love all the tiny element additions:

On any day of the week, Claire would be happy to go visit our port city Fremantle with its markets, fish & chippies and book shops. I chose to use a window frame and add days of the week to underline the title theme. I went with the whole page title and I love this page:

For this page, I stuck with the colour scheme and the handdrawn grid. I actually used the pen/pencil tool the draw the grid. It’s tricky, but it looks better ‘not perfect’. I used lots of the Drawn Blossoms and Branches and added just a few photos to give the flavour of the month my dear friend came to stay:

Our layouts with complete credit lists will be in the Get Inspired Gallery shortly and I hope we’ve inspired you to join us there this month. Katie has very generously put together a FREEBIE if you would like to use it. Don’t forget to include your 100% KPD product page in the August Challenge Sign in Thread to earn shopping rewards.

Happy Scrapping everyone!
