Color Challenge – Colours of nature

Hi, and welcome to the color challenge for May. It’s a time when the temperatures rise (for those of us in the Northern hemisphere) and the flowers are really starting to bloom. The colors get more vibrant and we can spend more time outdoors. When I thought of an inspiration piece for this challenge I wanted to imagine clean alpine air, fresh pastures, bright blue sky. When I found this picture, I really wanted to set off on an adventure, to see what’s along the road, round the next bend. Hopefully you’ll get the chance to explore and share the results with us in your pages.
I asked for pages from the Creative Team and they have certainly delivered!
First up is Linda (earlofoxford). I love how she’s taken the idea of the palette and used it with these coloured paper layers. The added framed photo increases the sense of depth and the stitching ties the whold page together.
Linda used Arctic White Paper Pack 02; Splatters Brushes and Stamps 03; Chunky Sentiments 05; Spill Frame Layers 12; Torn and Framed Layered Template 10; ARToptions Mini Mix 26; Christmas Garden Solids Paper Pack; ARToptions Mini Mix 28; Palette Textures Paper Pack 30; Drop Shadow Styles.
Next up is Jana with this arty page. I adore the texture of the brushwork and look at the gorgeous cerulean blue sky in the photo contrasting with the layers of trees and grass. The added camera element is perfect.
Jana used Scattered Pictures Vol. 06 LT 07; Adventuring Solids Paper Pack; Vintage Artistry Everywhere Solids Paper Pack; Vintage Artistry Naturalist Ephemera Plus Pack; Blendables Layered Template 101; Taped Together Edge Overlays 04.
Last, but certainly not least, we have this superb page by Shannon (shannonr). I love the watery brush at the top near the river, and adore the layers on top of the background photo. Really make me want to set out to pick up some nature finds for myself, though the mention of cruise ships made me reevaluate the wilderness I was imagining.
Shannon used Layer Works 2113; ARToptions Bookshelf Paper Pack 09.
Now it’s your turn, show us how you’re inspired by this month’s color palette and image. Katie has generously provided a freebie pack. Post your pages in the Color Challenge Gallery so we can leave some love. Remember to keep track of your challenge pages containing all Katie Pertiet Design products to earn store discount by posting in the May participation thread.
Happy scrapping!
