Let’s Blend Challenge

Hello, Joanne (jcaruth910) here with this month’s Let’s Blend Challenge. We will be playing with brushwork, specifically in the background. And, for good fun, let’s add in an extraction. 😉Extractions have become much easier to achieve with the Object Selection Tool in Photoshop. I find it does a great job and is pretty accurate. I believe it is called the Quick Selection Tool in PS Elements.

The challenge for this month is to use some sort of background brushwork and add an extraction on top of the brushwork. Katie has included a freebie for some inspiration, but feel free to use whatever is in your stash.

First is Jana with a beautiful layout and extraction. She kept the ArchiBlend Black, and the beautiful dress just pops off the page. In addition to the freebies, here are the products she used:

Vintage Artistry Wedgewood Paper Pack, Vintage Artistry Wedgewood Transfers, Vintage Artistry Wedgewood Ephemera, Arctic Whites Paper Pack 04, Typed and Scripted 13, Scribbling Clusters 01,
Scribbled Overlays 02.

Next is Shannon, who created a wonderful page using her photo of a  fox and blended it over her brushwork. She used Curator’s Meadow Transfers to compliment it. Here are the products she used:

Vintage Farmer Sketches 01, ARToptions Bookshelf Paper Pack 09, Vintage Artistry Naturalist Bundle, Vintage Artistry Naturalist Epoxy Stickers, Curators Meadow Scrapbook Bundle, Curators Meadow Transfer Bundle,
Curators Meadow Stamp Pack.

For my page, I used a street scene and added an extraction of a photo I took of my son and his partner and my husband. I ran the extraction through the filter gallery and added a little drop shadow to them also. My products here: Vintage Artistry paper pack 2, Watery Photo Masks 5, ArchiBlends Clusters and Stamps 4, Vintage Mix Clusters Brushes and Stamps Layers 2, Loosely Scripted Sentiments 5.

Katie has given us a wonderful Freebie Pack , to get your creative juices flowing. As always, please don’t forget to post your layouts in the Let’s Blend Challenge Gallery, as well as the May Challenge Participation Thread, to earn store rewards.

I hope you can join in on this month’s challenge. I look forward to seeing your work in the Gallery.

Joanne
