A New Angle on Halloween

Hello! Brenda here, and I’m thrilled to be hosting this particular Halloween challenge. To begin with, it is my favorite time of year. Locally, we are almost at the peak color season, so between scrapping Autumn and Halloween, I’ve been busy (in the best way possible) with bursts of orange, yellow, gold and red. I thought it would be fun to give this challenge a twist, so the only must is to incorporate triangles into your design. Our creative team has come up with some fabulous ideas to inspire, and Katie has included an extra sweet freebie pack that you can pick up here: Halloween Inspired freebies. Coincidentally, we have all decided to go with traditional Halloween colors, but there are some beautiful non-traditional color palettes for Halloween as well.
Our first page from Kathy (Blackathy) features two triangles with one large, happy photo split between them. Look at that smile! With a light-colored background, the photo really stands out with the help of a bold spiderweb and a fun title. Supplies used are: October 31st Flairs, October 31st Vintage Ephemera, October 31st Element Mix, October 31st Chipboard, October 31st Bits and Pieces, October 31st Layered Frames 2, October 31st Sentiment Mix, October 31st Solids, October 31st Paper Pack 1, October 31st Paper Pack 2, Geometric Frames and Stacks, and Messy Stitched Borders Black.
This page from Rae (Bcga100) is chock-full of Halloween goodness, and everything she used comes from one gorgeous Halloween Kit, “OCTOBER 31ST.” Individual products include, October 31st Bits and Pieces, October 31st Paper Pack 02, October 31st Reel Cluster Layers, October Essentials Solids Paper Pack 01, October 31st Vintage Ephemera, and October 31st Sentiment Mix.
Candy, (cnewby) started her design out with a template. It’s a great way to experiment by adding and subtracting, and I love the mix of colorful papers she added for this holiday-themed page. Supplies that Candy used include: Layer Works 702, Halloween Memories Paper Pack, October 31st Solids Paper Pack, October 31st Paper Pack 02, October 31st Paper Pack 01, October 31st Layered Frames 02, October 31st Bits and Pieces, and October 31st Sentiment Mix.
Erin, (Ernie88) designed this page using photos of these adorable Jack’o’laterns that the kids carved. This is what scrapping is all about, and I love that these memories are now preserved for generations to come. The supplies she used include: ARToptions Wicked Grunge, October 31st Sentiment Stamps, October 1st Layered Frames 02, October 31st Bits and Pieces, October 31st Sentiment Mix, October 31st Chipboard Stickers, October 31st Reel Cluster Layers, and Photo Grids 12×12 Layered Templates 11.
Your turn! Will you choose a traditional color palette, or go rogue with jewel tones or maybe even pastels? We’re excited to see where your imagination takes you. Please post your pages in the Challenge Pages Gallery. Remember you can earn a store discount when you take part in the challenges. Keep track of your pages using 100 % Katie Pertiet Designs products in the October Challenge Sign-In Thread.
Happy scrapping! ♥
