Template Mashup: Memories

Hello! This is Merr back with another Template Mashup Challenge!

Whether it is the every day memories of a morning walk or special celebrations, like anniversaries and holidays or milestone events like first steps or finally getting your braces off, we memory keepers want to record and remember all the special moments. I believe one of the best and easiest ways to create our scrapbook designs is to use two templates and combine the parts for a unique new design and that is what this challenge asks you to do.

The rules are simple. Use parts of each of the chosen templates to create your design. You may add papers and elements from other designs, as well. It’s all up to you!

I am so impressed with the responses I got from the Creative Team when I asked for examples using the Mashup Templates. The pages are all so unique.

Mel (aka Britgirl) has a very special style when it comes to her scrapbook designs and I was delighted to see how she used the parts of the templates to create a collage style page with layers that cover the page top to bottom and side to side. She used Spectrum Sherbet Remnants No 03 to fill in the background. Everything else she used is from the two templates! What a great look to clip a wide photo to the long rectangle template.

Campfire nights with the fireflies twinkling and lighting up the dark looks magical, doesn’t it? Sherry’s (digi371) use of the wooden frames for her photos is perfect for her woodsy setting. I love that she used the lovely dragon fly and the filmstrip, too. Sherry’s pretty background paper is from the Spectrum Sherbet Paper Pack.

Remembering her twin granddaughter’s when they were babies brings back happy memories for Julie (aka MaggieMae). Her all pink design, plus those cute smiles, make this page so charming! All the pink goodies come from the new Spectrum Sherbet designs recently added to the store. Spectrum Sherbet Ephemera, Spectrum Shebert paper Pack, Spectrum Sherbet Flairs, Spectrum Sherbet Postage Stamps, Spectrum Sherbet Strawberry Lemonade Botanicals, and Spectrum Sherbet Chipboard Words.

Audrey (aka Adrianita) went with a black and white theme for the photos and the colors for her striking page remembering the send off her family gave her at the airport when she left for army officer training in Fort Sill, Oklahoma last summer. Her title art is so cool, mixing Wood Veneer Words No 30 with the alphas from Maybe Not Kit. It’s a great kit to remember for black and white designs. Butterflies from Lifted Wings No 05 complete her design.

After 3 years with braces, my 17 year old grandson, recently celebrated getting his braces off. I knew I wanted to show the before and after results and found it easy to do using the templates we are mashing. It’s so much fun to design with parts of two templates. It always gives me ideas for elements I wouldn’t think to use and I am always pleased with the results. Cabana Whites Paper Pack and Spectrum Sherbet Solids completed my design.

Thanks so much for taking a look at our examples. It’s a great time to add templates to your design stash when they are on sale! You can use the parts of the templates again and again. Please post your layouts in the Template Challenge Gallery and also post in the Rewards Participation Thread to earn points towards your May discount code to use in the store.

Happy Scrapping Days!
