Story Scrapbook Challenge : One Fine Day

Hi, it’s Carol back again with another Story Scrapbook Challenge. I’ve entitled the challenge this month as ‘one fine day’, but you know me with lots of twists and turns in the story scrapbook challenge, the day doesn’t have to be fine, could be blowing a gale and storms.
But what I want you to do is to find a photograph you have taken of a view – land, sea, water, can be anything. And I want you to tell me the story behind it. What were you doing when you took the photo, what made you want to stop and want remember the scene.
A walk along the beach looking at sand and sea, a city skyline, a mountain view, a lake front vista, an historical building, a city full of shoppers, clouds out a plane window, something you see whilst hiking in the bush, the weather rolling in, a rainbow across the paddocks, disastrous damage by floods or fire or other natural causes, I could go on.
Every time we take a photograph of a vista there’s something about us that makes us stop and want to remember it. Let’s face it, if we are lucky enough to have photographs our parents have taken, how many of them are of views we know not what, where, why the photo was taken, what were they doing, why did they stop and use their precious film to take the photo of the scene in front of them. Now’s your time to remember that moment – where it was, what you were doing, where you were in your life, were you with people or alone, what were your thoughts. A view is just that, a view. But there will always be a story behind it and that’s where our page comes to life. Your view. Your story. Please share.
The creative team have jumped on board with some terrific example pages:
Erin’s page is a perfect example of this challenge. To the person looking at it it’s a sunset. But it’s more than that. It was the first sunset of the beach trip her family took after the bin fire of a year that 2020 was, the first time the kids could play with abandon and she felt truly relaxed. And it sounds like it might be the start of a traditional family vacation for them. Yay. Thanks for sharing your story Erin.
Supplies Erin has used: Leading the Way Brushes and Stamps, Painted Pencil Lines Solids Paper Pack 02, Page Fades Clipping Masks 01, Torn Templates 02, Readymade Layers: Beach Clusters 14
Sharon played along too, she saw the beauty in an overgrown piece of land behind where she lives, weeds and all. See we scrapbookers notice things right. I love that she has created this beautiful page showing just what she saw in this piece of photographic wonderment.
Supplies Sharon has used: Krafty Canvas Paper Pack 01, Cutting Files: Chunky Cuts Grids 01 , ARToptions Mini Mix 19, ARToptions Mini Mix 21, Vintage Mini Min Kit 15, Vintage Artistry Hike Ephemera, Vintage Artistry Hike Ephemera Plus, Botanical Christmas 01 Ephemera Pack, and more.
What a fun page Sarah has created here of an amazing day which involved whale watching. I love that she’s included photographs of the sites seen on the way to that goal of seeing the majestic creatures up close. Wonderful journaling describing the day I bet the family will read again and again and enjoy remembering. And how perfect is that element spout coming off the whale.
Supplies Sarah has used: Whale Stories Element Pack, Whale Stories Blendable Layers, Whale Stories Solids Paper Pack, Kitlet Solids Paper Pack 07, Textured Cardstock: Tidal Wave Paper Pack, Handdrawn Mix More Brushes and Stamps, Bold Photo Borders Brushes and Stamps 01, Thin Classic Photo Frames Curled and Flat 01.
And as for my page I got up early one morning and walked to the lake in town to see the sun rise recently. I was having quite an introspective moment and giving myself a talking to. The title “It’s a New Dawn” was very fitting to the thoughts I was having at the time.
