Saturday Scraplift: Layers of Goodness

Linda here with a new Saturday Scraplift for you today. Layering certainly isn’t my strong suit, but I do love it. Lots of elements drew me to Kate’s (OKate) beautiful page for the recent Color Challenge: the springy colors, the quaint tearoom photo treatment, and of course, all those lovely layers under the photo. Addie and Valerie, two of my fellow Creative Team members, joined me in lifting Kate’s page – here’s where it took us.

Kate’s page:

Addie (agoymerac) used a picture of her succulents peeking through the snow – isn’t that amazing that they survive? I love how she used neutrals for the most part on her page, allowing the beautiful colors of her plants to take center stage. She did a great job stacking the layers under her photo, and the leaves help to reinforce her garden theme.

Valerie (nana_vg) scrapped a treasured photo of her daughter at her christening, wearing an heirloom gown used by at least three generations of her family – sort of reminds me of the custom of the Royal Family – so cool! Valerie used the beautiful color of her daughter’s eyes to dictate her color scheme, and she layered all those blue elements perfectly.

I used a photo of Devils Tower from a family trip to South Dakota and Wyoming in 2020. I thought the colors in the picture were striking – it was a gorgeous day – so I pulled elements in those corresponding shades for my page. I find the easiest way to layer photo mats is to browse through my stash for the right colors and then just play with layering them until I’m satisfied. I blended two of Katie’s papers to get the desired effect for my background.
