Brush it Up Challenge : Let’s get wordy

Hello hello, it’s Carol here and I’m back again for the July Brush it Up challenge : Let’s get wordy!    Are you looking for a grounding background to a page, just that something something to give it an extra feature, pop the brush wording over the top of a photo, change the colour, put it on a tag.  I’m interested to see what you come up with and hope you find something that will work for you.

We’re using Defining Grunge Brushes and Stamps 10  this month.

Katie has generously offered a discount code for half price of the pack to be added at checkout – KPD50dG10 – and you have until the end of the month to use it (31 July 2026).

To be part of the challenge you have to use one or more of the items from the Defining Grunge Brushes and Stamps 10  pack.  It contains both stamps and the .abr file to use any way you want, get inventive!

Our two guest creative team members have eagerly jumped on board with some terrific example pages and I’m loving what they’ve done:

Firstly Rachel (rache77) has created a gorgeous page of her young fellow.  She’s used the ‘time’ brush as a background grounding the photo cluster, but do you notice she’s also somehow embossed it on the cardboard backing, how very clever, I want to run my fingers over to feel that embossing.

Along with the awesome freebie, the supplies Rachel has used:  Canvas Cardstocks Paper Pack 03Nature’s Sketchbook: Leaves 01Vintage Blendable Layers 20Big Painted Patterns Brushes and Stamps 03Blendable Ledgers 03Vintage Artistry Everyday EphemeraVintage Makers Scrapbook BundleKrafty Garden Wildflower EphemeraIndigo Garden Element PackBig Bottom Lift Classic Frames 03.

Next up we have the awesome Sherry (digi371) and she created the most darling page of her dog.  What a character.  She’s used the ‘enjoy’ brush and coloured it to complement her page.  And check out that O in Otis which resembles his toy.  Fantastic.

And for my page I have used two brushes ‘together’ and ‘wonder’ and added them to the cluster of photographs, one for each frame.   I really like the light coloured type on the darker background.  Re-colouring these grunge blends makes them so versatile.  I thought they suited the photographs and story I was conveying.
