Journaling: I have realised during the last 6 months that books are my mental health barometer. My whole life books have been one of my favourite ways to relax. The past several years I’ve found it almost impossible to read because I’ve not been able to quiet my mind. I would read and re-read paragraphs until I gave up. The past 6 months though, I have read on average a book a week. Sometimes 2 or 3. I have been devouring them and I have loved every minute. I have noticed though that when my anxiety is high, my ability to read for fun stops. It’s now my first reminder to take care of me before I am once again forced to.
One of my favourite things lately is to thrift books. I have found some great treasures this way and it’s always a fun time! But let’s be honest, I also spend a lot of time in book stores and on Amazon, too!
I have read some amazing stories and been on some wild adventures the past 6 months. The book that started me back on my reading journey though? ‘The Last Ride’ by Thomas Eidson. I remembered enjoying the movie ‘The Missing’ and had no idea it was based off a book. I think I read it in one day.
