What I love about myself is that I have my dad’s eyes. They’re not green, they’re not blue, they are in the middle and they are light in colour. With both had and have pale coloured eyes. Everyone would say that Trevor was like mum and I was like my dad and not just our eyes, but our outlook on life was the same. Our connection with brass banding, being in organisations, being the organiser of events, keeping meticulous records, I’m a spreadsheet girl, dad was reams of foolscap lined paper on the kitchen table. I’m so glad that I have this trait of my dad both physical and mental, it’s something I truly treasure. I also think I get my emotional soft side from dad too, he was such a softy, though whilst I’m more demonstrative, he kept his cards close to his chest then would surprise us when he would tear up at big occasions or speak his mind out of the blue with words of love. Whilst he is now long gone, it makes me feel so good that he lives on in me. So yes, I do love my pale coloured eyes.
