Week 52
FINALLY! Sunday saw me rush back from Jodie’s to undertake another PCR which would be within the 72 hour time frame. Then on Monday, we finally flew! We had a 6 hour lay over in Frankfurt but it didn’t matter, we were on our way! We had a super special welcome from Ava and Ace when we landed and thereafter, we just did stuff and I didn’t keep a diary. Hence the mish-mash of images and no journaling. But... I was present and that’s what I’d set out to be at the start of this long awaited visit. It was during this trip that we spoke about Hayley & Dewald’s move to Van Riebeeckstrand and Vincent returning in February to help with the move. We toyed with the idea of me returning at that time too.
Week 53
2021 was the year Covid continued to dominate the world. When most of us continued to work from home and followed government guidance. It was the year of Vincent’s back op and Hayley finding out she was pregnant with a little girl! It was the year of Vincent’s retirement and talk of mine. And it was, of course, the year of us all getting another year older.
We aren’t fans of New Year so it was a very low key one as we prepared to fly home a few days later. It was wonderful to spend time with family this side of the equator and to finally get to know Ace. Money just can’t buy the special times nor the ordinary, everyday moments we’ve had and I’m hoping 2022 is full of many more. So here’s to 2022, I hope it’s a happy and healthy one for us all.
