We woke with Hayley’s Facetime call at 07:20. The first Christmas that Vincent and I have spent on our own - a very low key affair! We missed having Jennie and Fred over but we called them and we ate with Jodie over FaceTime late afternoon. Caught up with Hayley and co. again before rounding off the evening with Jodie again. Thank heavens for FaceTime. It got us through the most strangest of Christmas Day’s I’ve ever known. Vincent and I chilled on Boxing Day... we’re really good at that! And we enjoyed the Scottish Tablet my KPD Secret Santa sent with the two cutest ornaments I’ve ever seen!
So it’s now all about the new strain that’s spreading faster, the ever increasing cases and hospital admissions, vaccination rollout and deaths within 28 days of a positive test. Clinically extremely vulnerable patients that have been placed into tier 4 have been advised to shield again. And so it continues. Sadly. Catastrophically. Tragically.
This is my last Covid-19 update and it’s a rather poor one at that. 2020 has affected my frame of mind more than I ever thought possible and it has sucked the living daylights out of me. I want to move forward into the new year with a new mindset, faith and hope. I want to feel more like my old self, the person I used to be. I need to form new habits and practice self care. I want to look forward instead of behind and I want to recognise and appreciate all the good in my life. It’ll be baby steps all the way, one step at a time, not the entire staircase. And it’s all up to me.
