A little late with this one... but I wanted to document the beginning of Harrison's journey.
New Year...new job...new girl...new beginnings. It all seems to be coming together for you! This is your year!
We were talking about the Chinese New Year, & how 2023 is the Year of the Rabbit... (which is you) & you said to me, “mom, this is my year”, & so far it has been a good one!
But I know from previous conversations with you, that you have not always had the best self-esteem... you once told me that, “you had nothing to offer anybody” (specifically meaning the opposite sex), & I was so sad to hear you say this. I rhymed off all the things that you did have to offer someone, (you are getting an education... you have a job...your own car... you are good looking... and a kind soul) & although you listened, I’m sure you thought, I was just saying these things, because I am your mom.
Now, you are on your way, & seem more confident, & more sure about your future... but one thing I want you to remember, is that, these things do not define you... the job, the car, the house, not even the girl. Character is what defines you.
The job: yes, David told you about the job, but you got it all on your own! Your employers were very impressed with your resume, your knowledge, your willingness to learn, & that you are self-taught...they were impressed with your character.
The girl: she is attracted to your character as well. You are a smart, thoughtful, caring, person, with a good heart & values, & you attract the same.
Dad & I are so proud of the young man you have become, & are looking forward to seeing where you go with this new chapter.
So remember, wherever you go in life, & with whomever, we know that you will be successful, amazing, & the best version of yourself, you can be.
