Eureka

Decided I needed to do another page for the passions and causes storybook challenge.
Who would have thought I was married to such a rebel rouser, his first and only protest he's been a part of. I love his passion. I just told him whatever he does, just don't call me from jail!! (journalling at the end of credits)

Journalling:
The Government were wanting to close off or severely restrict access to a huge swathe of the goldfields on Crown land in the area, mainly because of pressure from the ‘Greenie’ movement. Mike and his detecting mates were outraged and joined in a protest held at Beaufort along with 4x4 clubs, horse riders, campers, trail bike riders, everyday people who just wanted to use the bush as a natural resource for their enjoyment and recreation.

If only the powers that be were aware that the detectorists left the bush cleaner than when they got there, they took away any rubbish they found and filled in their holes, lest other detectorists discover where they got their finds. You’d never know they’d been there.

Interesting that now a few years later, nothing further seems to have progressed with this government bill, but more than one particular area of Crown land that Mike knows of has been quietly subdivided into 10 acre housing blocks. So much for the Greenies wanting to ensure the bush remained pristine, and not a peep out of them. We smell a rat.
