I find that as I get older my Christmas wish list gets simpler and smaller. I have never been a materialistic person anyway and I have always got more joy from being together as a family and celebrating than I have any gift. This year Christmas will be extra special because Nana and Pomp have travelled all the way from WA to spend it with us. So my biggest wish (that has already come true) for Christmas this year is family. We haven’t seen Dylan’s parents for almost 3 years due to the mess that was covid and border restrictions and so I want the kids (and us) to soak up as much wonderful family time as we can while Nana and Pomp are here. The kids are old enough to remember these family Christmases and I want those memories to fill their hearts for years to come.
My only other wish for Christmas is for rest and relaxation. I am tired. So tired. There is so much good stuff going on in life and it far outweighs the stress but I rarely get a chance to just sit and not think. I’m looking forward so much to Dylan having some time off work and some quiet days as a family where we just go with the flow. I want the kids to have a restful break from school so they can start 2023 ready and focused. I want some uninterrupted time pottering in my garden and to work on my hobbies so my brain can focus on just one thing at a time. And I desperately want some sleep! If anyone could manage to fit some sleep in my stocking then all of my Christmas wishes would come true!
Actually I do have one more wish. I wish for 2023 to bring peace and happiness to all those I care about and those who are struggling. I hope it’s an easier year for everyone and good things come their way.
