Documenting some amazing death blooms on my hens and chicks last summer.
Journaling: "Death blooms on a hens and chicks plant is an odd concept to me. At some point in the life cycle of the plant, the mother hen will shoot up a tall stalk that produces gorgeous, tiny pink flowers. This is a death bloom, meaning it’s the last hurrah for that part of the plant and it will die shortly after. No worries though if the hen has already produced many chicks that will live on and fill in that area the following season. I generally get a lot of these amazing blooms mid July. I eventually snip them and marvel at this hardy plant that lives on. July 2021"
