It is difficult for kids to see how valuable they are these days with social media and the constant comparison to others. My son, who is on the right track with everything (socially, academically, maturity), thinks that he can't get into the university that he wants, so he is giving up before he has even applied. I am really struggling to find the words to help motivate him and realise that even if he doesn't get acceptance, that it is ok. The thing is, there is no question in my mind that he has an excellent chance. He just doesn't realise it. He is so talented and just needs to believe in himself and fight for what he wants.
