Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge: Rule of Three

Hello everyone, Lori Ann here with April’s Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge! Every other month the challenge is to look at the 9 squares,  and decide which path you want to take. Choose a set of squares going Horizontally (across), Vertically (down) or Diagonally (end to end). Your page should include the three items in the square path you chose, along with whatever else you wish to add.

When posting your creations, please indicate which path you used such as:

  • A-across, etc. – for horizontal
  • 2-down, etc. – for vertical
  • Left 1A down or Right 3A Down – for diagonal

Then there is the twist! As most of you may have noticed, the Tic-Tc-Toe grid resembles the “Rule of Thirds” format that may be used as a scrapbooking technique. There are different ways to use the “Rule of Thirds” method.

The Twist: So after you have chosen your path, we are going to use the “Rule of Thirds-Embellishment Placement” which means I would like you to pick, at least one of your squares and repeat it three times on your layout. You could even repeat two or all three squares, maybe create a cluster of all three and repeat it. Create three points of interest to keep the viewer’s eye moving.  This is often done in a triangle but doesn’t have to be. Have fun with it! Can’t wait to see where your imagination takes you!

Here is April’s board:

Katie has also provided a freebie to get you started! You can download the freebie: HERE.
