Then and Now: Home Sweet Home

Hello! Julie here with the Then and Now Challenge for May. This month we are focusing on Home Sweet Home. This could be about places you have lived over the years. You could show your current home from different years or updates you have done to it. You could also focus on a home away from home… maybe somewhere you go back to every year or a favorite vacation spot where you feel right at home being there. Or you can put your own twist on the challenge as long at it is related to the topic. Katie has provided a freebie to help get you going!

Our first sample is from Mel (Britgirl) and she chose to focus on one of the many things getting an update in her home renovation project. I love how she framed the two photos with earthy colors and foliage. Very pretty!

In addition to the freebies, Mel used the following products: Fall Stories Transfers, Lemon Twist Scrapbooking Bundle (bee), Garden Trails Scrapbooking Collection, Bird Song Ephemera, Bird Song Ephemera Plus, Bird Song Wildflower Ephemera, Hand Drawn Home Improvement Stamp Pack, Vintage Photo Frames 46, and Watery Foliage 26.

Next up is Monica (mosbaskets), one of our Guest CT members. She focused on the growth of one of the trees in her yard. 22 years makes a big difference in how the tree and the house look! I like the clock element she used and the dates on each photo to show the passage of time.

Monica used the following products: Layer Works 1942, Black White and Tan Kit, Pinned Wood Veneer 01, Nature Study Element Pack (alpha), Clock Parts 05, Autumn Bliss Element Pack, Krafty Tags & Journalers 01, Stamped Bookshelf Alpha 03, Nature Study Foliage Transfer 01, Nature Study Grid Transfers, Nature Study Text Transfers 01, Nature Study Assorted Transfers, Nature Study Ephemera Plus, Nature Study Color Wash Transfers, and Nature Study Sentiment Transfers 02.

I just love what Valerie (nana_vg) did for the challenge. She has lots of photos AND lots of journaling. She has taken us on a journey down memory lane with all the houses she has lived in since she was six years old! I enjoyed reading the journaling and was surprised to find that I was stationed at two of the same locations as her husband: Korea and Ft. Hood Texas.

Valerie used a template to start her two-page layout and added just a few more items: Across the Pages Vol. 02 Layered Template 08, Vintage Farmhouse Garden Sentiment Stamps, Big Watery Patterns Brushes and Stamps 04, Dreamy Paper Pack 04 (clipped to paint), and Cabana Whites Paper Pack.

And finally my page shows our house from around when we first moved in (2007) to last year when we had a lot of maintenance done to refresh the look. I can’t believe we have lived here 18 years! I kept my page super simple and only used three other products in addition to the freebies.
