Then and Now: Friends

Hi there! Julie here with the February Then and Now Challenge. I think the debut theme last month was a little hard, so I’m making this one easier with the broad topic of friends. Could be a long friendship for your child, or yourself, or even your furry friends (with a human friend or another furry friend). Could be an online friendship, or an in-person friendship. It would be great to have pictures for the then and the now, but if your journaling supports it, one or the other is just fine. Katie has provided a fun freebie pack to get you started!
First up we have a layout by Jan that documents a close friendship of hers that spans 50 years. Amazing! I love the way she gave each photo a large date so you can easily follow the time progression over the years.
In addition to the freebie word art, Jan used the following products: Snowy Friends Chipboard Words, Snowy Friends Remnants, Snowy Friends Paper Pack, and Classic Pooh: Friend Like You Element Pack.
Next up is a layout by Trish. She has chosen to document one of her daughter’s friendships that is going on 40 years plus! I like the natural elements and clipboard she chose to go with the outdoorsy “then” photo. Trish also used some big dates to show the change in time.
Products used on this layout: Clipboard Layers 01, Autumn Fields Fall Scrapbook Kit, Flower Splatterings Brushes and Stamps, Watery Branches Brushes and Stamps 10, Artsy Layered Blends 01, and the Christmas Village Kit (ribbon).
Shannon was quick getting her page done and now I see why. She used the Big Picture Vol. 11 Layered Template 11 and it was perfect for these photos of her BFF over the years! Another 40-year friendship. WOW!
And here is my example. I’ve used all four freebies on mine, but you don’t have to. From elementary school to their senior prom, my daughter and her friend Ashley have stuck by each other over the years. I like the idea of having arrows to point forward (in time) and while the arrows on this layout don’t point directly from photo to photo, I still wanted to include some on my page.
In addition to the freebie pack, I used Artic Whites Paper Pack 02, ARToptions Plum Grove Paper Pack, ARToptions Plum Grove Transfers 03, ARToptions Plum Grove Ephemera (tab recolored), Hey There Element Pack (wood arrow), Almost There Brushes and Stamps, Assorted Tapes 04, and Almost There Element Pack (staple).
I can’t wait to read about all the cherished friendships that will be posted in the Then and Now Challenge Gallery this month. And don’t forget to add your layout to the Then and Now thread in the February Challenges Forum to receive credit towards a store discount. Happy scrapping!
