Template Mashup: With Heart

Hello everyone! This is Merrilee (aka digigrandma) here to introduce two templates for your mashing pleasure. My selections this month are neutral in color for easy mixing and matching. Note that both templates include word art with the word, heart, which makes me think of Valentine’s Day themes as just one possibility. Or, perhaps the journaling stamp for Vacation Memories will be your inspiration. Whether you want to include one photo or multiple photos the templates will work for you! Just make sure you use parts of both templates and post your newly designed pages in the Template Challenge Gallery. Templates will be included in the Thrifty Thursday sale.
Scrap Layers Layered Template 31
I’m so proud and excited to show you what Trish, Stacia, Valerie and Lori Ann created using these templates.
First up, Valerie, (aka nan_vg) used the lace, ribbons and doily for layering under her multi-photo design. She expertly recolored several of the elements to match colors in her photos. It’s an eye catching design. Fun baby shower ideas! Her background paper is from Textured Cardstocks Paper Pack 01.
Next, Trish and Stacia both went with the travel themed word art in creating their pages with Trish featuring a lineup of three photos and Stacia showcasing one special photo. They kept to the mostly neutral color scheme of the templates to let their photos shine.
Trish (G T) found everything she needed in the two templates to create this fun page with photos from a cruise. The soft paint colors and splatters are just lovely for her background under the photos.
I love the expressions captured in the photo Stacia (Stacia) showcases on her page. Her expert layering under the happy photo gives added dimension and interest to her page. Stacia always finds room to give the background of the story her page tells.
Stacia added stamps from Hand Drawn 2025 Monthly Stamp Pack and the Kitlet Solids Paper Pack 06.
Lori Ann’s (imaggs) page is a stunner with the surprise of a dark background under an awesome photo capture. She achieved the bold background color by blending three different papers. She used the color picker to grab the purple color in her photo which she applied to the bottom layer of papers and then changed the blend mode of the top paper to color burn mode. She is inspiring us to play with blending modes. It takes some experimenting to do, but, you can achieve interesting, beautiful results.
Lori Ann’s three background papers are from Patterning Palettes 02 Solids Paper Pack, Sacked Solids Paper Pack 02 and Lightly Linens paper Pack 29.
I decided the neutral colors of the templates would work well with a black and white photo I cherish of me with my handsome US Naval officer Dad taken during WWII. I love getting ideas from templates for what to layer under the photo. To warm up my page a bit I added a cream colored paper from Duncan Solids Pack.
And, now, it is your turn. Grab the templates (on sale Thursday, remember) and start mashing. Use only the templates or make additions from your stash of Katie Pertiet Designs. Most of all, just have fun! Mashing is easy and the results are always exciting. Please post your completed page in our Template Mashup Gallery and, of course, add it to the February Participation Thread in the Forum so it counts towards our Rewards program.
