Template Mashup: Right Here, Right Now

I never get tired of mashing two templates. I find that once I start choosing parts of the two different templates to use for my mashup, a new original design magically starts to come together with very little effort and I love the finished results. My name is Merrilee, often shortened to Merr, (aka digigrandma). I am hosting this challenge so I had the privilege of choosing the two templates for the first Template Mashup Challenge for August. Take a look! What grabs your attention the most? For me, it was the multiple colors and the bold title art in both templates.
Remember, the rules for this Challenge are simple. Grab the templates while they are on sale and when you create your scrapbook page, be sure to use parts of both templates to complete your design. It’s OK to use other designs from KPD, too. For example, usually you’ll need to add a background paper from your stash. Please post your page in our Template Challenge Gallery and if you are working towards earning reward points for challenges, also post in the August Challenge Participation thread in the Forums.
I’m not the only one on the Creative Team who loves to mash templates! I had expert help from Amy, Stacia and Valerie from the CT, plus, Jen, one of our two talented Guest CT this month. They created the following example pages for you for inspiration:
I’m going to start by showing you Jen’s (jdipzinski) page with its triple border edging which she created by clipping a paper from Botanical Bliss Paper Pack 01 to the inky edged frame included in one of the templates. Brilliant idea, Jen!
Speaking of brilliant ideas, Amy’s (Amy L) granddaughter wears a tiara while coloring! Maybe we should all wear tiara’s while we scrapbook! So cute and the use of lovely colors from the templates to match the photo makes this page adorable and so pretty. A soft pink paper from Lightly Linens Paper Pack No 24 completes the page.
Cute, adorable babies always draw my eye to a page I see in our Gallery. Valerie (nana_vg) created this page with photos of her and her DH meeting their newest great grandchild which grabbed several of the blue colored elements from the templates. Her background paper is from Dreamy Paper Pack No 03.
On Stacia’s attractive page, four photos artfully arranged horizontally across the page tell the story of a relaxed summer time lunch outdoors. Stacia used the circular labels for some of her journaling and the bold inky edging plus, Hey There Cardstocks Paper Pack , Spectrum Gardenia Plastic Alphas and Spectrum Gardenia Wishing Bubbles complete her page.
There you have it! I hope you fall in love with these templates and jump right in to try mashing! I’ll look for your original new designs in the Template Mashup Gallery.
Wishing you hours of time to scrapbook! It’s a terrific hobby we have.
