Template Mashup: Life Stories

Hello again! It’s Merr (aka digigrandma) back with a new Template Mashup Challenge! When it comes to designing scrapbook pages, we all have our own preferred style and even when we all start with the same two templates, as we do for this challenge, that style is usually evident in our finished pages. When you join in on the Template Challenge, you can pick and choose parts of the templates, arrange them the way you like and then add your own choice of background paper and the result is a completely original, new design. That’s what I love about this challenge and I invite you to give it a try!

First, take a look at the templates for the challenge:

Next, here are the example layouts created by the Creative Team. Please note how each artist designed a unique page and take note of the ideas for background papers each artist chose to complete their designs.

Jheri (aka Jheri) chose a neutral monochromatic color scheme for her elegant design with her signature style of leaving ample white space on her layouts. The sweet photos give a glimpse into their life when the granddaughters visit. Her white background textured paper is from Kitlet Solids Paper Pack 04.

Brenda (aka bbe) also designed with a monochromatic color scheme, only her page uses a patterned background paper from Forever Fall Paper Pack which allows her design to fill the whole page edge to edge. She includes a super cute story along with the darling photo of her granddaughter.

Liz (aka lizziet5) went with a fall themed page making use of the giant fall leaves from one template combined with butterfly brushwork from the other template. It’s a glorious, happy page and Liz found everything she needed in the two templates and only added a background paper from another great paper collection called Textured Cardstocks Paper 01.

Julie, (aka MaggieMae) also features a fall theme with gorgeous photos of trees in their autumn splendor. The light colored background paper, which is from Duncan Solids Paper Pack, helps make the photos pop and also provides a nice subtle texture.

The next two examples fill the entire page with color, brushwork and blending.

Candy (aka cnewby) features closeup photography of vivid leaves on the ground. She added the wonderful envelope embellishment (Photo Frame Envelopes 08) with fallen leaves spilling out of it. Butterflies add more beauty to her page and she chose to use the notebook embellishment to add a layer under one photo. She created her lovely background using Lila Bleu Add On Paper Pack and Painted Pencil Lines Solids Paper Pack 02.

Rae (aka bcgal00) has been out and about photographing beautiful autumn scenes. Her design fills the whole page with splendid color, brushwork and blending. Rae’s brushwork is from Quinn Blendable Layers. Her title and added leaf clusters are from Readymade Layers: Fall Clusters 17. She also used Fall Garden Scrapbook Kit to complete her page.

Thank you, Jheri, Brenda, Liz, Julie, Candy and Rae for sharing your inspiring examples with us. Now, you are all invited to join us designing with these templates. Please post your pages in the Template Mashup Gallery and also in the November Rewards Participation Thread in the Forum.

Happy Scrapping in November, everyone!
