Story Scrapbook Challenge : Jobs and Employment

Jobs, dream jobs, jobs that you just needed to take to get by.  I want to hear all about jobs this month.

What did you want to be when you grew up?  What did you become?

What was your first job?  Did you do a paper round?  Work in an ice cream shop and got paid in free ice cream?  What were the wages like when you got your first job?

Was the wearing of a uniform involved in your job, would love to read the details.

Do you work outdoors in the elements, or indoors?  Do you work in solitude, or in a team.  Do you utilise heavy machinery?  How has that changed over the course of your employment?

How are you at job interviews?  Do you have any memorable ones?  Have you had to do courses away from home?   Do you have to commute to work, how does that work for you?  Where has your career taken you?

Have you had a period of unemployment, what did you do to cope?

Would you like to tell us about your parents working life, your grandparents, how interesting that story would be and precious for your family memories.

This month I want to hear all about jobs and employment and there’s so many jumping off points I’ve given you.  This is your story, your memories, I can’t wait to read.

The creative team have jumped on board with some terrific examples, and bless their hearts look at all that glorious story telling journalling!  This is going to be a fabulous month of stories about jobs and employment and the whole shebang.

Cori (CoriK) starts with the changes of her employments over the years, looking back to what she’s done throughout the years and where she has ended up.  I really enjoyed reading her story throughout the years.

Valerie (nana_vg) did a page about technology at work.  Gosh I can relate, I started my job on a typewriter much like the one in the first photo which on cold days when the office heating wasn’t working, was so painful on the fingers.  I absolutely love this page, how far we’ve come.

And for my page (carollee) I decided to document that three generations of our family have worked in the railways and I was lucky enough to have a photo of each.  Each deserves really to have a page of their own, but I love the nexus here between the men in my family.
