Something Old, Something New

Hi friends, Trace (tracermajig) here again with another Something Old, Something New challenge. This month we are playing with beads and bubbles. Wishing bubbles, that is!

They can be the perfect additional touch or a main part of your design and not to mention, so versatile! Let’s see what we are playing with.

The old:

And the new:

As always, the aim of the game is to use an old product and new product together. You can choose just two or use all four. If you don’t have these element packs in your stash, Katie has provided a freebie to get you started. If you do already own these, feel free to use any elements from these packs.

Let’s see what the team has created this month!

I love the way Linda (earlofoxford) sprinkled the bead scatterings around her page. I also think the way she used the wishing bubble and heart as replacements for the ‘o’ in her title is so clever. They act almost like a subtitle. What a beautiful page!
Linda used these products to create her page: Bead Scatterings 03, Color Swatch Combo Ocean Breeze Chipboard Words, Color Swatch Combo Ocean Breeze Scrapbooking Kit, Color Swatch Combo Ocean Breeze Solids Paper Pack, Color Swatch Combo Ocean Breeze Transfers, Drop Shadow Styles, Summer Porch Wishing Bubbles, Torn and Framed Layered Template 11

I love how Valerie (nana_vg) used the bead scatterings to frame her photos and then the wishing bubbles to anchor her clusters. While they aren’t the main part of the design they do add such a perfect touch to her page!
This is what Valerie used to create her page: Bead Scatterings 03, Big Bottom Lift Classic Photo Frames 01, Krafty Garden Blend Transfers 02, Krafty Garden Bontanical Transfers 03, Krafty Garden Chipboard Words, Krafty Garden Ephemera, Krafty Garden Journal Cards, Krafty Garden Page Layers 03, Krafty Garden Postage Stamps, Krafty Garden Remnants 01, Krafty Garden Wishing Bubbles, Messy Stamped Circles Brushes and Stamps 01, Text Textures Paper Pack 02

Wishing bubbles are a great way to add pops of colour around your page, just like Stacia (Stacia) has done here! By using the bead clusters on opposite diagonals it once again helps to frame the page and draw your eye across those wonderful photos.
Stacia used these products on her page: Bead Scatterings 03, Cully Element Pack, Good Life Layered Template 03, Layer Works 175, Summer Porch Wishing Bubbles

I (tracermajig) wanted to use the bead scatterings to help emphasise my title and I love how they look sprinkled across it. One of my favourite ways to use the wishing bubbles is as a fastener. I find they are a great alternative to a staple or stitching. The wishing bubbles with sentiments also work well as a subtitle which is what I have done here, also.
This is what I used to make my page: Back to School Library Cards, Bead Scatterings 03Classic Side Lift Photo Frames 01Color Swatch Willow Ephemera StackersDocumenting Life Date Stamps Value Pack 03Done with Doilies Photo Clusters 02Golden Pretty Element PackGraduation Essentials 2020-2025Graphite Masks 02Krafty Garden Wishing BubblesLedger Grids 05 Brushes and StampsPencil Twist Arrows 01Pinned: Enamel Stars 01School Rules Element PackSchool Rules FlairsSchool Rules Solids Paper Pack, Scribbled Overlays 04Spectrum | Gardenia EphemeraSpectrum | Gardenia Ephemera Plus PackStamped Bookshelf Alphabet 03Stamped Stitches 14 Brushes and StampsStar Clusters Brushes and Stamps 02Summer Porch Wishing BubblesSunny Season Scrapbook Elements, Textured Whites Paper Pack 01Yellow Word Bits 03
