Something Old, Something New

Hi everyone! It’s Trace (tracermajig) back again with the latest Something Old, Something New challenge!
This month I kept it fairly simple – lace and bows! They may not be the central part of a page design, but I do believe they can be the perfect added touch. Katie has lace and bow options for every colour of the rainbow in the store but I decided to pull something from her new Color Swatch Teal Ephemera pack. Then I went way back in time to pull a bow and lace from her Yesteryear Add-On Lace and Yesteryear Element packs.
Just like last time, Katie has provided a freebie to get you started. The only rule for this challenge is to use at least one of the new and old products in the freebie pack on a page. Other than that, feel free to go in whatever creative direction you like!
Let’s see what the team put together!
I just love how Karen (grandmak) used the lace to create a border on her page. How wonderful does that big bow look as an anchor point for her title? So clever and creative!
These are the products that Karen used on her page: Altered Pages Layered Template 09, Arctic Whites Paper Pack 04, ARToptions Viken Remnants, Assorted Messy Stitches: White 01, Assorted Messy Stitches: White 06 Big Bottom Lift Vintage Photo Frames 01, Color Swatch Teal Ephemera, Embroidering Accents 01, Party Time Element Pack, Vintage Artistry Blush Ephemera, Yesteryear Add-On Lace, Yesteryear Element Pack
Yam (Yam) used both lace products to create a lovely border and banner on her page. I love how she secured it all down with the bow and button! She has so many wonderful teal layers on her page, I think I could sit and study it for quite some time!
These are the products that Yam used on her page: Classic Side Lift Storyboard Photo Frames 01, Color Swatch Teal Chipboard Frames, Color Swatch Teal Ephemera, Color Swatch Teal Junk Journal Pages, Color Swatch Teal Scrapbook Bundle, Color Swatch Teal Transfers 01, Ephemera Texture Clusters 01, Readymade Layers: Botanical Clusters 11, Vintage Blendable Palettes 06, Yesteryear Add-On Lace, Yesteryear Clusters, Yesteryear Element Pack
I love how Kathy (Blackkathy) tucked the lace into her paper strips. It adds such great texture to her layers! I also love how she used the bows to ‘tie’ her element clusters together. On a side note, how cool does her photo look across all 3 frames?
Kathy used these products to create her page: Color Swatch Teal Ephemera, Lemon Twist Floral Bits, Lemon Twist Layered Frames, Lemon Twist Papers 1, Lemon Twist Papers 2, Torn Templates 2, Yesteryear Element Pack
I (tracermajig) liked how the Yesteryear lace looked when placed on the vertical and started there. It was a great jumping off point to create lots of lines on my page. I didn’t have any new ideas for the bows. I simply used them to anchor some of my elements. It’s always fun creating a monochromatic page because it really narrows down your product choices!
This what I used on my page: Blendable Layers 54, Chipboard Alphas Thin Pack 01, Classic Curled Photo Frames 02, Color Swatch Teal Ephemera, Color Swatch Teal Ephemera Stackers, Color Swatch Teal Paper Pack, Color Swatch Teal Transfers 01, Color Swatch Teal Transfers 03, Hand Scripted 41, Little Enamel Charms: Hearts 01, Patterning Palettes 02 Element Pack, Patterning Palettes 02 Plastics, Patterning Palettes 02 Solids Paper Pack, Patterning Palettes 03 Element Pack, Striping Graphic Brushes and Stamps 01, Taped Word Strips 07, Torn and Framed Layered Template 07, Yesteryear Add-On Lace, Yesteryear Element Pack
I hope you feel inspired to mix some old with the new! Don’t forget to upload your pages to the Something Old, Something New gallery and also update the February Rewards Participation Thread to earn store rewards!
