Something Old, Something New

Hi everyone, it’s Trace (tracermajig) here with a brand new challenge for 2024!
The challenge is called Something Old, Something New and it is exactly as it sounds. Each month I will choose an old product and a new product and we will use them together to create a page. For January I have chosen Katie’s new Moonlit Garden Wildflower Ephemera and we are going to pair it with a much older product called Junkyard Garden: Blooms.
There is only one rule for this challenge and that is to choose at least one element from each product to use together on a page. Katie has also put together a freebie pack to get you started.
Let’s see how the team did with this challenge!
Carol (carollee) mixed these two products together so perfectly! I love the little garden of wildflowers at the bottom of her page combined with the star glows in the background.
Carol used these products to create her page: Arlesey Solids Paper Pack, Baby Blush Solids Paper Pack, Edge Overlays 02, Junkyard Garden: Blooms, Moonlit Garden Wildflower Ephemera, Photo Grids 6×8 Layered Templates 01, Seasons Finest Solids Paper Pack, Splatters Brushes and Stamps 07, Star Glows Brushes and Stamps 01, Vintage Artistry Butter Paper Pack
Yam (Yam) created a stunning layered page for the challenge! I love how the junkyard blooms are sprinkled throughout her page to frame her photo cluster.
These are the products she used to create her page: Big Picture Vol11 LT02, Junkyard Garden: Blooms, Moonlit Garden Paper Pack 02, Moonlit Garden Text Blends, Moonlit Garden Transfers 01, Moonlit Garden Transfers 05
Karen (grandmak) mixed a few metallic products with the Moonlit Gardens wildflowers to make this beautiful page. I love the mix of the soft and the metallic!
These are the products Karen used: Back to School Element Pack, Junkyard Garden: Blooms, Moonlit Garden Cluster Layers, Moonlit Garden Paper Pack 02, Moonlit Garden Wildflower Ephemera, Urban Photo Frames 01, Vintage Photo Frames 42
I (tracermajig) love mixing old and new products! I honestly think what takes me so long to create a page is that I spend a lot of time looking through my stash for different things to mix together! For this page, I used the junkyard blooms like I would any flower and once again, I love how they worked with the soft florals!
These are the products that I used: ARToptions Blendable Layers 04, Assorted Patterned Tapes: Fall 01, Basic Tags 03, Curated Team Scrapbook Mix 10 Value Pack, En Parens Brushes and Stamps 01, Forever Fall Element Pack, Junkyard Garden: Blooms, Meriam Ridge Element Pack, Moonlit Garden Ephemera, Moonlit Garden Chipboard Bits, Moonlit Garden Chipboard Words, Moonlit Garden Paper Pack 01, Moonlit Garden Wildflower Ephemera, Moonlit Garden Ephemera Plus Pack, Moonlit Garden Wishing Bubbles, October Essentials Solids Paper Pack 01, Partial Page Masks 02, Patterning Palettes 02 Element Pack, Typewriter Clusters Brushes and Stamps 01, Wooden Alphabet 08
I hope you feel inspired to mix the old with the new! Please post your pages to the Something Old, Something New Gallery and don’t forget to update the January Challenges Participation Sign-In thread to earn your store rewards!
